Fleet Health¶
Open Clients > Fleet Health to check the current system health of your measurement clients.
The summary cards count clients by health state. They also show how many clients are offline and how many still need to send a status after the health thresholds changed.
Health states¶
Surfmeter evaluates three resource metrics from the latest system status reported during a study run:
- CPU average
- Memory peak
- Disk peak for each eligible filesystem. Surfmeter checks writable, non-temporary filesystems of at least 1 GiB.
A client is critical if any metric reaches its critical threshold. It is warning if any metric reaches its warning threshold. A fully reported status below all thresholds is healthy.
Unknown means that Surfmeter does not have enough data for a health result. This includes clients that have not reported system status and reports without enough CPU, memory, or filesystem samples. An incomplete report cannot clear an existing warning or critical state.
The Reasons column names each metric that crossed a threshold and shows its value. The table also shows the connection type, tags, and time of the last evaluation. Click a client label or UUID to open its detail page.
Note
Online and Offline describe measurement activity. Healthy, Warning, and Critical describe CPU, memory, and disk use. An online client can therefore have a critical health state.
Disabled and unregistered clients are hidden by default. Turn on Show disabled/unregistered clients to include them.
Client system details¶
Each client detail page has a System Health section with the latest status from the past 30 days. It shows:
- CPU average
- memory peak and effective total memory
- connection type and available Wi-Fi or IP details
- peak use and minimum available space for each reported filesystem
If the section has no record, the client has not sent a recent system status.
Thresholds¶
Organization admins can change the warning and critical limits under Organization Settings > Client System Health Detection. Warning limits must be lower than critical limits, and both must be between 1% and 100%.
The deployment defaults are:

Leave a field empty to use its deployment default. New limits take effect when each client sends its next status. Until then, that client is counted under Awaiting new status.
Email notifications¶
Under Settings > Notifications, use Client system health to turn these emails on or off for your account. Surfmeter sends an email when a client:
- enters warning or critical health
- moves from warning to critical
- recovers to healthy
