CDN Performance¶
The CDN Performance dashboards let you compare the content delivery networks (CDNs) that served your video or web measurements. There are two dashboards, Video and Web, available from the navigation.
Video vs. Web¶
- Video groups measurements by the hostname of the video content server, using a built-in list of known CDN providers.
- Web groups page load measurements by the autonomous system (AS) that served each request domain. The list of providers is discovered automatically from your data, since a page can load resources from many different networks.
Measurements that carry no CDN information (for example, because the content server could not be resolved) are excluded from both dashboards.
Layout¶
Both dashboards share the same layout:
- A time range and interval picker, plus the usual measurement filters.
- A CDN provider filter to narrow the comparison down to specific providers.
- A KPI picker. You can select one or more KPIs to chart; charts render side by side.
- One time series chart per selected KPI, showing the chosen aggregation (average or median) per CDN provider over time.
- A share chart showing each provider's share of traffic over time, either as absolute volume or as a percentage.
- A scatter plot comparing the primary KPI against traffic volume for each provider, useful for spotting providers that combine poor quality with high volume.
- A breakdown table listing every provider with its KPI value and volume.
Chart settings, such as the aggregation used for the KPI charts, are available from the "Chart Settings" button.
When a dashboard has more providers than fit legibly on a chart, the smaller ones are grouped into an "Other" bucket. The breakdown table always lists every provider individually.
